BC Hockey 2018 Summer Officiating Schools

If you are looking for an opportunity to expand your knowledge of officiating then the BC Hockey Summer Officiating School will meet all your expectations. The school will be devoted entirely to Hockey Canada Officiating Program (HCOP) material. The current season's HCOP certification exam will be administered on the final day of camp to provide certification. Ice sessions have been designed to supplement the classroom instructional content. Students may be grouped by age, ability or level of interest during the school to maximize success

 

 

As part of the A.F.H.A. Development Program, we plan on Sending an official to the Summer Program each year at no cost to them. If you would like to apply, please email the Referee in Chief at ric@abbotsfordfemalehockey.com

Eligibility

Any student ages 12 to 18 years old as of December 31 of the current calendar year wishing to register as a BC Hockey Official in the upcoming season is welcome to attend.

All NEW officials will be required to complete the online Hockey University “Officiating 1/2” course prior to certification registration. RETURNING officials do not have to take the online course.

Level 1 officials are 12-15 years old. Level 2 officials are 16+ years old.  Level 3 officials must be a minimum of 18 years old and have written recommendation letter from their District Officiating Coordinator. Any official that will be 18 years of age or older as of December 31 of the current calendar year will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check (CRC) prior to registration for their upcoming season's certification.

Instruction

The Summer Officiating Schools are operated under the direction of experienced BC Hockey Officiating Program personnel. Instructors will include BC Hockey instructional staff, elite level officials and possible special guests.

Accommodation         

Supervised dormitory accommodations are located near the arena. All students are expected to stay in residence for the duration of the camp.

Meals

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided daily.
