Listed below are the basic courses required.
Concussion Awareness Training (CATT)
Complete by: Before you can be part of any coaching
Cost: Free
BC Hockey announced June 27, 2016 that all BC Hockey team officials (head coaches, assistant coaches, managers, HCSP) are required to be qualified in the Concussion Awareness Training Tool (CATT) prior to their participation in any practice or game.
As a sports leader, BC Hockey is bringing concussion awareness to the forefront to ensure the safety of all participants and that team officials are aware and educated on concussion protocol and the Hockey Canada return to play procedure.
Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders
Complete by: Before you can be part of any coaching
Cost: $30 (please keep receipts and submit to the team manager)
Respect in Sport is required by ALL team officials (head coaches, assistant coaches, managers, HCSP)
This certification expires after 4 years
Criminal Record Check
Complete by: Before you can be part of any coaching. This needs to be completed every year
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is required by ALL team officials (head coaches, assistant coaches, managers, HCSP)
Team officials requiring a criminal record check can apply online. Please go to the below link and use the code:

If you do not qualify for the electronic CRC, when promoted, print out the form and mail or FAX to: Criminal Records Review, Ministry of Justice, PO Box 9217 Stn Prov Govt, Victoria BC V8W 9J1, FAX the consent form to: 250 356-1889.
Coaching Course
Complete by: "HU Online Coach 1/2" before you can be part of any coaching
Complete by: "Coach 1/2 Level" the classroom portion must be completed by Dec 1 2019
Complete by: Signed Post-task to BC Hockey by March 31 2020
